The Tucson Public Art Project
Volume One:

The Tucson Public Art Project is a three-part series, remixing my photographs of the many murals, sculptures, and masonry structures throughout Pima County. It's a spiritual journey dedicated to local artists, individualism, and community. Tucson is my hometown and a great place for others to visit. This city has long inspired my artistic endeavors with its eclectic array of public art. It is now portrayed through my own story as it corresponds to society's humanity and Divinity. I intend for locals and tourists alike to feel a sense of nostalgia while recognizing specific places within each design. I plan to inspire you with a whole new way of seeing both themselves and the world.

Interstate 10- is an introduction to local Tucson art, as if the viewer just arrived to exit most any freeway off-ramp and discover a new world of artistic expression. It explores various levels of truth and perception relative to the art we produce, view, and reflect. It searches to find the intended meanings behind the art, from which we each find personal meaning. Unlike the following chapters, "Interstate 10" gives a journalistic view by researching and revealing the actual intentions of the original art that I’ve photographed and remixed. To maintain the integrity of original intent, I focused directly on consistent details and the most prominent aspects of each sculptured mural. Welcome to Tucson's own public drive-through art gallery.

About the Print Quality

Canvas: We use Urth canvas, the world’s first solvent canvas with archival certification by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Manufactured by the leading canvas supplier of award-winning digital inkjet canvas, Breathing Color® uses breakthrough technology of agent-free Fluorescent Whitening and Chromata white to create a canvas free of optical brighteners while still producing canvas prints with bright whites and true vivid colors that will not fade or yellow over time. With OBA-free Urth canvas, your print can hang in direct sunlight and will remain fade resistant and as beautiful as it was the day it was printed. The canvas has a built-in coating which makes it moisture, UV protected and abrasion resistant. The canvas is durable enough to withstand cleaning by taking a damp cloth to the surface to remove dust.

Inks: We use UltraChrome GS3 HD inks, which have a wide & rich color gamut range. This allows us to match the exact color fidelity of your original photography and artwork. The inks are sprayed upon canvas, hence the “giclee application,” with extreme detail and vibrancy, thus creating a stunningly sharp image. Tested by Wilhelm Research, these lightfast, archival inks are designed to last 100+ years. In giclee printing, when an ink is called lightfast, it means it can withstand exposure to direct sun light and resist fading.

Wood: The wood used to create the stretcher bars for your prints is made from poplar trees, which have extreme strength and stability. The grain in poplar wood is straight and fine making it manipulable for uniform cuts when building any custom size stretcher bars.

About the Printing Company

These superb quality canvases and professional paper prints are made using the best inks, papers, and canvases around. Ethically sourced and assembled with excellent craftsmanship, all images are printed on archival and acid-free paper and canvas. All canvas prints are elegantly finished using custom-designed durable, poplar wooden stretcher bars. They are shipped directly to you from Canvas Giclee Printing, located in Carolina Beach, NC.
